What? Is each generation truly that much different?
It doesn't matter. People are buying them up left and right. The iPhone has the second largest market share, and the iPad dominates the tablet marketplace. So Apple is going to continue to pump out new versions so long as the public keeps buying them. And with mobile only getting bigger year over year, I don't see that slowing down anytime soon.

7 Common FAQs About Playing Poker From Your iPhone / iPad
I'm an American poker player? Can I play poker on my iPhone or iPad tablet?
No. Unfortunately there isn't a poker site that both accepts US players and provides a mobile poker version of their software.
US poker players have a couple of options.
- Find an app for free or a couple of bucks and play poker for fake money.
- Skip poker and play casino games instead. There are US friendly casinos that have iOS apps.
- Try to play real money poker using a remote desktop app.
The idea behind the remote desktop app is to control your desktop from your phone or laptop. However, I'm not sure how convenient this may or may not be. Additionally, playing poker this way might be difficult because the poker site won't be designed to fit properly on a mobile device. But it might be worth the couple of dollars and time to try it out. That's up to you.
Do I need an internet connection?
Yes. You will need either a WiFi or 3G / 4G connection. Keep in mind that if you're using someone else's WiFi that it might cost you money (in a hotel, for example), and if you're using 3G/4G that it will cost you in terms of data.
Can I play poker on my iPhone for real money?
Yes, so long as you're in a non-US country that can access a poker site with a mobile app. Sites to consider would include PokerStars, Party Poker or 888 Poker.
How do I get started?
Getting started is easy. Just follow these steps:
- Visit the poker site. Find their mobile page.
- Click their download link. The app will either download or take you to their page in your app store.
Some poker operators will have a QR code that you can scan instead. Scan the code and the app will install to your device.
In other cases the operator will have a select few games or options to choose from. What you'll need to do is give them your mobile number, location and your choice of game(s) and they'll send the links to your phone. Then install the games.
Once you have the app on your device, simply log-in. If you don't have an account many poker site operators will ask that you create your account using your desktop or laptop computer first. In fact, you may have to handle your banking from your computer, too.
I heard that you can play remotely from your iPad. Is this true?
I've heard about it, but I've yet to try it myself.
The biggest problem with trying to play poker remotely is that the software isn't designed for your phone or tablet, but for your computer. So the tables may not fit, making it more likely you press the wrong buttons (which could be costly).
Do I have to play real money poker from my iPhone / iPad?
Absolutely not. You can play with fake money. In the case of paid apps from the app store, you won't have any choice -- all of those games are play money only.
Is playing from my iPhone / iPad safe?
Yeah, playing poker on your iPhone and iPad is safe. All poker sites (that we recommend) make sure that your connection and the data packets (with your hand information, personal details, etc) are encrypted. And some sites, like PokerStars, don't let you save your username and password to your phone. That way if your phone is lost you don't run the risk of someone having access to your account.

But poker operators can only do so much. So I recommend using RSA tokens when available, and changing your passwords frequently using a variety of numbers, letters and symbols.
While the iPhone is great for the occasional quick game of Texas Hold'em, the larger Apple tablet is much better suited to prolonged poker sessions. It's lightweight design, 10 hour batter life and retina display graphics make it the ultimate gamin platform for any online poker fanatic. Enjoy ring games & tournaments at any of these mobile poker sites.

Win Real Money Online Poker
When the Apple iPad was originally unveiled I got pretty excited because I felt that its screen was the perfect size for playing a Texas Hold’em while sitting in the garden or relaxing in bed. No longer would I have to wait 5 minutes for desktop computer to boot-up . The 7-inch tablet would be the ideal instrument for playing mobile poker. As soon as the it became available at my local Apple Store, I rushed out and bought a WiFi and 3G version.
As soon as I took the iPad out of its box, I decided to try and install apps from my favorite poker rooms. I opened iTunes and searched for PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, PartyPoker and just about every other poker room I could think off. Unfortunately none of the major online poker sites we were available for download from the iTunes App Store.
PLAY TEXAS HOLD'EM CASH GAMES ON THE APPLE TABLET
Since there were now native poker apps available, I decided to play at few games of Instant Poker from the Safari browser of my iPad. Again my efforts were thwarted because Apple do not support Adobe Flash on either the iPhone or iPad.
Luckily things changed a couple of months later when Switch Poker released the first browser based poker client. Just a few shorts months later, Bwin managed to get Apple's approval for a texas hold’em app. Since then a whole range of new and exciting iPad compatible apps have been released. Some offer 3 dimensional graphics, some specialize in speed poker, while others just focus on delivering a really smooth game of Texas Hold'em.
