  • Minimum Age to Gamble in United States of America Below you will find the minimum legal age to gamble in various locations around the U.S., Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. In the 50 American states, some times you'll see a variance, this usually is due to Indian casinos having different age requirements in their casinos than state regulated.
  • For most cruises, you need only be 18 years old to gamble in the ship’s casino. This includes the major cruise lines like Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian Cruise Lines. Eighteen years old is a full three years younger than what’s allowed in casinos in the United States — including Las Vegas.
  • Cruises used to be one of the few places you could find casino gambling in the United States outside of Las Vegas or Atlantic City.A cruise ship would leave port, and the casino would open as soon as the ship was three miles offshore in international waters.
  • All of Europe, the Med, or Caribbean is 18 to gamble. On Princess, even if you are sailing in the Caribbean, you must be 21 to gamble or drink. In port, you can hit the casinos at 18.

The term “dry dock” refers to the renovation period during which the ship has significant renovations completed. With some of these refurbishments, the ships come out looking brand new. The cruise lines have been known to spend tens, if not hundreds of millions of dollars bringing these ships to the status of their much younger contemporaries.

On most cruise ships, the minimum age to be in the casino is 18. Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Azamara raise that age to 21 on sailings in Alaska, while MSC raises it to 21 in the Caribbean.
